Press Release: Opening of 1st Dedicated Imaging and Photography Event in South East Asia and the Pac

With the focus on communicating the latest trends and technology in imaging and photography for the region, Imaging Expo Singapore is a launching pad for major brands into South-East-Asia and The Pacific. Featuring key imaging brands like Adobe, Broncolor, Bowens, Canon, Hasselblad, HP, Jenis, Kodak, Noritsu, Profoto, Samsung, Sigma, Tamron, Yashica amongst other brands; visitors can expect to touch, feel, and learn of the newest photography software and gadgets all under one roof at the exhibition.

Visitors of the exhibition will also be treated to an array of onsite activities such as “Shoot Me if You Can!”- A Spot, Shoot and Win contest, and also be able to display their artistic or photographic talent at the Graffiti Board located within the exhibition hall by sharing their messages, drawings or photos. Plus, visitors must not miss the Live Studio Shoots held at exhibitors’ booths and the Sharp Shooters’ Contest organized by Photo Videoi.

In conjunction with Imaging Expo Singapore, the Singapore Photographic Trade Association is hosting a Regional Photo Industry Leader’s Forum on 2 November. In this forum, invited trade participants can look forward to an in-depth discussion on the challenges facing the photo industry in this digital age. Mr Baey Yam Keng, Member of Parliament, Singapore, will be the guest-of-honor at this forum.

Held parallel to Imaging Expo Singapore is P.I.X – Photo Imaging X-change, a cutting-edge interactive event comprising of conferences, seminars and classes for anyone interested in imaging and photography. The photography experts and celebrities speaking at P.I.X. include Alec Wee, Andy Wee, Bryan Peterson, Chris Yap, Kristupa Saragih, Laurie Gilbert, Mathieu Meur, Sven Hafner, and many more, who are all specialists in their own genre of photography.

Also featured at P.I.X is the 54th Singapore International Photography Award, where the creative and innovative works of photographers from different parts of the world will be showcased. Organized by The Photography Society of Singapore (PSS) under the patronage of the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP), this international event has consistently attracted a significant number of entries from photographers of more than 30 countries worldwide. On display at P.I.X 2007 are the 80 best entries selected (from the hundreds submitted) by a panel of judges who are renowned photographers.

The Photo-Art Association of Singapore (PAS) will also be exhibiting more than 400 pieces of artistic work by photographers from some 46 countries worldwide. The exhibits include color prints, monochrome prints, color slides and digital images selected from over 2,000 entries. The selection criteria are in accordance with the recommended practices and rules of the Photographic Society of America (PSA) and the International Federation of Photographic Art (FIAP).

Imaging Expo Singapore incorporating P.I.X – Photo Imaging X-change 2007 is set to become South-East-Asia and The Pacific’s most important annual professional event for the photographic and imaging industries, bringing together people who shape and drive the imaging industry as well as opportunities to penetrate the markets emerging from digital technology’s impact. This event is modeled after photokina in Cologne, Germany, the world’s most important imaging and photography trade fair which showcased 1,579 exhibitors and drew over 162,000 visitors from 157 countries last year. Koelnmesse also organizes Imaging Expo/Interphoto Shanghai, an imaging trade show that is customized for and to enter into the greater China market. These series of events represent Global Competence in Imaging trade fairs that Koelnmesse is organizing for different geographic markets around the world.
