Nikon D3x Various Noise Reduction Settings ISO800-ISO6400 Sample Photos

Nikon D3x has four category of noise reduction settings namely Off, Low, Normal and High. Sample photos are 100% cropped of the various in camera noise reduction settings. Photos were taken at night time.

ISO samples below ranges from ISO800 to ISO6400 accompanied with 100% cropped sample. Autofocus was set to centre point. Refer to the tabs for noise reduction mode. Lens used was AF-S Nikkor 24-70mm F2.8 G ED. All shots were taken using Program mode with auto white balance at focal length of 24mm. Exposure is set to -0.3EV

Nikon D3x vs Sony Alpha 900 ISO50-ISO6400 100% Cropped Comparison

There have been a lot of questions about the Sony and Nikon’s 24.5 Megapixel full frame sensor. Are both these sensor carrying the same capabilities? Is Nikon D3x Sensor Same as Sony Alpha 900

Nikon responded to the doubts that have been pondering by fellow photographers. Is Nikon D3x’s sensor the same sensor as the one in Sony Alpha 900? Is Nikon D3x’s sensor manufactured by Nikon or Nikon is still depending on Sony for their digital single lens reflex sensors?

In an article published by Rob Galbraith, Nikon quoted the following:
The Nikon D3X’s 24.5-megapixel FX-format (35.9 x 24.0mm) CMOS sensor was developed expressly for the D3X in accordance with Nikon’s stringent engineering requirements and performance standards, with final production executed by Sony. Featuring refined low-noise characteristics, 12 and 14 bit output, Live View capability and more, the D3X’s unique sensor design was carefully blueprinted to perform in perfect concert with proprietary Nikon technologies including EXPEED Image Processing and the Scene Recognition System. Meticulous efforts allowed the sensor to become one of the many essential components and technologies which contribute to the D3X’s superior image fidelity.
