Overview of KLPF 2007<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

The participants:<\/b>\n<\/p>\n

\nCanon<\/b>
\nCanon displayed their latest dSLR namely the EOS 40D and the EOS 1Ds Mark III.
\nThere is a variety of lens displayed, from ultra wide angle to their popular
\nlong white colored telephoto lens.\n<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

\nThe 40D hands on experience was great, with the help of the
\nassistant, I was able to do some ISO 3200 testing. The 1Ds Mark III however,
\nwas not available when I wanted to do some hands on. I guess that’s what
\nhappened when you did not chain a high-end camera up on the counter.\n<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

\nNikon<\/o:p><\/b>\n<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

\nThere is nothing much to talk about Nikon, the best on their
\nbooth was a Nikon D200 mounted with a 300mm F2.8 VR lens.  <\/span>There were displaying mostly point –and –shoot
\ncompact cameras. No, there were no D300 and D3.<\/p>\n

\nIn addition, there were two Nikon technicians sitting at the
\ncorner of the booth assisting Nikon users with dSLR and lens dust cleaning. A
\nnumber of people were queuing up when I were there. For your information, Nikon
\nMalaysia provides free sensor dust cleaning for their users. Bring your Nikon
\ndSLR to your nearest Nikon service centre if you need some cleaning.\n<\/p>\n

\nOlympus<\/o:p><\/b>\n<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

\nOlympus had their newest lens the 12-60mm F2.8-4.5 High
\nGrade lens on display together with a P-1 mock up. There were half-cut mock up
\nof some lens and an E330 attached with Zuiko 300mm F2.8 lens.\n<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

\nPeople from Olympus were very helpful in guiding and
\nenlightening me on their products. I tested the Olympus E510’s Images
\nStabilization on the spot.\n<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

\nPentax<\/o:p><\/b>\n<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

\nThere was no dedicated Pentax booth on displayed. It was
\ndisplayed at the Shriro Malaysia’s booth, the distributor for Pentax products
\nin Malaysia. I did not have a chance to talk with any of the assistants
\nregarding the camera as they were busy serving customers with other products
\nthat they were carrying.\n<\/p>\n

\nSony<\/o:p><\/b>\n<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

\nA huge surprise when I overheard what a visitor beside me said.
\nHe asked his companion why there is no Sony booth. Only then I realize that
\nthere was actually no Sony booth displayed. 
\n<\/span>I am not sure why, an Alpha 700 on display would be really nice.\n<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

\nLowepro<\/o:p><\/b>\n<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

\nA lot of Lowepro bags were up for sale, I enquired few items
\nand it was cheaper than the normal retail price.  <\/span>Almost 90% of Lowepro products were
\navailable. Those who were looking for bags surely had a good time.\n<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

\nTamrac<\/o:p><\/b>\n<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

\nNot as many selections as Lowepro, they seemed to have
\nbrought only small items there. One was able to order any item and collect it
\nafter the fair, this way one still pay the offer price rather than the more
\nexpensive retail price. I order few items but have yet to receive my order until
\ntoday.<\/p>\n

\nThe Venue:<\/b>
\nKLPF did not utilize the whole 6th<\/sup> floor of Berjaya Times
\nSquare  <\/span>as what some of you (those who
\nsent me enquires)  <\/span>thought,  <\/span>it’s 
\n<\/span>around the size of 3 shop lots.\n<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

\nConclusion<\/b>:\n<\/p>\n

\n<\/div>\n

\nKLPF is not really a great place for the latest gear
\nhunting, but visitors were able to gain new knowledge by attending the talks.
\nThere were at least two sessions of talks going on simultaneously all day long
\nfor the two day event.<\/p>\n

\nPhotos exhibited were great. There are few that were taken
\nby Canon’s latest EOS 1Ds Mark III 21MP camera.<\/p>\n

\n<\/span>Visitors were able to
\nget great offers and discounts offered at the booths, mainly selling
\nmade-in-China equipments. Manfrotto and Gizto tripods were some of the best
\noffer not to be missed. People were seen leaving with bags and reflectors.\n<\/p>\n
